Stuntman's Apprentice
It was a new challenge to create a themed room without going too far. For
Justin's room I tried to bring a focal point to the room with my wall mural. It was
so fun to create a small image and have it blown up to wall size. Murals Your
Way really took care of me on this project. Applying the wallpaper requires a
long working table, a ladder, a friend, a straight edge, paste, sponge, roller, clean
up bucket, a utility knife and patience.
To create the idol I purchased a mold making kit from a local craft store. It was
the same material used to take a mold of your teeth - alginate. It is mixed and
must be used to cast a plaster copy the same day but it is fun to see something
in clay become durable that quickly. You can also cast your hand or foot , spray
it in wild colors and create your own accent piece.
The bowling alley lane was a fantastic find that I made a while ago. Fortunately,
my husband is very patient when it comes to storing things until inspiration hits
me. We do have a killer mantel piece and entertainment center made of the alley,
but it was a long process to get it right. Big D and Mike were carpenters willing
to take it on before I brought it to Thad's. All three were incredibly good sports
and made me look fantastic in the end!
Finally, reusing and re-purposing furniture is crucial with a limited budget. The
television is placed on a new and improved coffee table with bowling alley and
speaker cover accents.
