Season 4 - Can you believe it?
Welcome back! This episode, the Llanes family, is actually from last season, but Nancy has a family tie to the deaf/ hearing impaired community, so this
was a special one. Also, meeting Marlee Matlin, who is a truly kind and inspirational person, and getting to ride a Segway, were high points of Season 3.
First up, Daniel Kucan's quote, lettered by Hallie, who is a supremely talented artist in the NJ area. Next is a bird flying around a corner for Michael, to add
a little fun to a blank wall. Next is the origami room, various accents by Nancy, and finally, the "Welcome Home" sign, directed and assembled by Nancy.

One of the most fun aspects of the show is the people who drop by the house-in-progress. In Hendersonville, Nancy met Crystal Gayle and Kathy
Cash-Tittle, and, as lover of country music, it was a great experience for Nancy. The first picture was painted by Nancy for Ty's secret room, a Rothko
inspired painting - one of several that hang in the room. Next up are a couple of pictures of the fire truck for Ed Sanders, including a mural by Nancy, and
emergency decals that made life a lot easier - thanks to Kara and Jennifer. The other two pictures are of Tracy Hutson's cow room. Nancy designed the
mural and painted it with the assistance of Brad and Shelly. She also designed the barn, including the mechanism for feeding the "wall cows", but it was
built by Justin and the incomparable Big D. Last is a print of a cowboy, courtesy of Wes Scarberry, from the collection of his old friend Bruce.

After 50 plus episodes of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, you might think that the creative well had run a little dry for Nancy. Take a look at the Pirates of the
Caribbean room, done for Paige Hemmis in Minot, North Dakota (each thumbnail picture will open in a new window if you click on it). The first picture is of the
skull in the early stages of its sculpt. Nancy carved it out of urethane foam, then glassed it herself. The second is the full install in the room, and the third is
what you see with the black light on. The fourth picture is the pirate crew working away in daylight, and the last is again with the black light on. An homage to the
Disneyland ride, this may well be the most fun Nancy has ever had on a room. A special thanks to Big D and Justin (and their incredible crew) for the bed, and
Karin, for pitching in when she did not have to. Most importantly, a big shout out to Ali Pearson of Alumni Exhibits - the expert's expert.

Welcome to Waterloo, Iowa, where Nancy painted a 40 foot mural on corrugated metal. Jimmy Navarro and Erin showed up just in time to help
finish the mural and add lettering to the other barn. Some of Jimmy's original paintings truly enhanced the great room. One of the best things
about EMHE is that Nancy gets to meet talented artists like the amazing Phil Hester. The superhero is by Phil, and the BOOM! is by Nancy, who
lettered the superhero room. The last picture is of Aaron Gillespie and Brook Turner, who worked closely with Phil on the comic book room.
They, like all the volunteers, are the true heroes of the show.

The Hoosier State, and a house that more than made up for Nancy's week off. First up, the secret room...and the secret is, that's all painted, not wallpaper. Thank
you, Ty Pennington, for a fun design and a mild case of bursitis. Next up the camouflage room for new designer Johnny Littlefield, which is the second picture, in
case you're having a hard time seeing it. Then comes the world's greatest dollhouse. Yeah, no matter how old you are, a giant dollhouse is really fun.Last, is Laci's
Boutique Room, and you can see the volunteers (many who came at the request of Paul Weir) who helped make all this possible. Last, because you see this sort
of thing from time to time, a giant Cowboy Jim in a chef's hat in a dollhouse.

Halloween in Utah -some of the most beautiful country Nancy has found in the 40 states she has travelled to. The first picture has a little sentimental value for
Nancy...the first mural she ever did for EMHE, waaaay back in Season 1, was a mural of Foxboro Stadium, home of the Patriots, so this was a little trip back in
time. The foam figures were done by a local artist - Nancy just did the background. The next two, for Tanya McQueen, are paintings of bamboo done to accent
her room. Next is a henna tattoo design for Tracy Hutson's bohemian room...being from San Francisco, Nancy has met a bohemian or two. And last is the
EMHE pumpkin carving contest, where Nancy and her partner, Steve Croley, took the Scariest award for their Pupmkin eyeball, and tied for Best in Show with
the guys from Transportation...who drove over their pumpkin.

A lovely home for the loveliest of states - if you have never been, it is not to be missed. The top row are a progression of
photos from Paul and Preston's Alaska room, designed to give the effect of the Aurora Borealis, or Northern Lights, on a
mural painted by Nancy. The last image also includes a map illustrated by Nancy, with help from Jerry and Rosemary. Next
is the cheerleading room, mural composed by Nancy. Next is the kitchen backsplash, which is featured on the EHMHE
website, which was designed by Nancy and installed by Christy and her niece and nephew. Finally, a detail for the master
bath for Michael Moloney, done literally as the family was driving up...and also, a pic of Nancy herself, who always has
something in the pipeline...Special thanks to Mike and his team, who went the the extra thousand miles to paint this house.

Armada Township, Michigan...where houses are built in an instant. Next, the open road that went into the go kart room..there's more on Nancy's MySpace.
Last but not least, an opportunity to see some of the helping hands who turned the garden room into one of the loveliest rooms on any house. That's
Nancy kneeling n the photo, along with a great crew.

Much of the Koepke house was spent finishing the mill for Preston, and pictures of that are MIA. in the meantime, as a change of pace,
here's a series of photos of one of Nancy's paintings, from the Koepke house. For Paige, Nancy did a porttrait of the family horse,
which hangs over the bed. The pics above show the progression, the hanging and the finished product. As you can see from Nancy's
Art page, she is very versatile...

Thank you LAPD, for all you do for all of us...and all the PDs out there. A volunteer army second to none, and you made the Ripatti-Pearce house beautiful. Check out hte
pictures of the workout room, and Jordan's nursery, including the surf bench designed by Nancy, her children's ocean, and girls in the curl. If we can get them, we'll post
pics of the garage, which was made beautiful by volunteer after volunteer, most especially LAPD Erin G. and some GREAT painters. The last two pics, because this is a
home build, show Nancy's greatest works of art, admiring the balloon artist. The youngest two masterpieces are shown with Paige, basking in the pink...

Welcome to the Fullerton-Machacek Family home. Although that may look like beautifully aged brick in the first photo, that is actually the talented work of Nancy
and Joyce, creating realism out of concrete - and all that courtesy of the remarkable Preston Sharp. Next up is the stamp for Tracy Hutson's room, bringing a
little tropical flavor to Nebraska. For the NASCAR room, Nancy composed an enormous amount of memorabilia for Paul Dimeo. For Ty and the secret room,
Nancy painted the trees with Jeff, Sass, and Sasha from Fe Fi Faux - thank you guys! - as well as Ben. Last, for a restful and serene spa room, Nancy painted
stars to give the room an artisan feel - like night in Mexico.

A wonderful city and a deserving family, rebuilding a new life. First up, a close up of some of the scenes from Paige's room, similar to Sandylion African
Plains set. Next to that is Ty's secret room, set up and directed by Nancy, with the assistance of Dawn and Teri -thanks for all you did! The mystery muralist in
the middle, with some pictures from the time lapse half way through tonights' show.

Welcome to Raleigh, home of EMHE's own Ballard family. First up is the castle dressing room entrance designed and painted by Nancy for Paul
Dimeo's room. Notice the incredible pyramid jewelry box by Scott Roop. The next pic is of an inspirational mural in the assembly hall for John
Littlefield. Thanks for your help Sarah Lynn Brown, Shelly and a very understanding painter with a spray gun. Lettering was painted by students
from the school itself. Third, ahutch that was black and became antique bronze for Tracy Hutson directed by Nancy and painted by Amy, Tamara
and Peggy of TC Artworks Design Studio. As usual, a quick fix for Ty when the yellow wasn't right; Nancy cut out and attached a new background
and subject for his wall art. Last, Nancy and one of EMHE's biggest fans, Sarah, an artist in her own right, and a fine example of what makes the
show worthwhile.

A delayed Ohio photo set; sorry about that, but even the hardest workers need a little time to relax, recuperate...and ski. First of all, Nancy had a lot of help on this
one, and she would like to thank Pat Long with PPG and his wonderful team of artists out of CCAD - Chad, Emily, Jamie, Lindsey, Tiffany, Kory and Christa who
worked endlessly on the master bedroom and elephant room blocks. Special thanks to Anthony for being there and most importantly being there for Ed. Thanks
to Erika and Sheryl for the time you could give us. And now, to the pictures, which show all the results of their hard work. First up, the rainbow, painted by Nancy
and Jacque, a great design producer who has moved on to bigger and more matrimonial things. Next, the elephant room, with a view of the peanut and the slide
through Nancy's eyes. Next, the blocks and Nancy, just before the Thomas family came home.
Finally, the lineup of Marines to welcome the family home. The Marines are truly special, the embodiment of what makes our country unique, and Jason Thomas
embodies those ideals perfectly. But for Nancy, there is another Marine whose sacrifice is personal to her, and so her work on this house is dedicated to Mike R.
Thanks, Mike. Your birthday is always a great day in Nancy's home.
